Do you have hydrophobic materials?

Are you regularly paying to dispose of hydrophobic materials? Looking for a greener solution? If so, Ecospill has the answer.

Our world is moving away from old-fashioned production methods and companies are demanding more environmentally friendly solutions to curb waste. If you are paying a third party to dispose of your hydrophobic materials, we have an alternative that will enhance your green credentials and save you money. We are looking for partners who would like us to remove their waste, allowing them to enjoy the long-term benefits of ‘closed-loop recycling’.

What is closed-loop recycling?

This is an environmentally friendly process in which a product is repeatedly recycled and repurposed into a new item, such as our absorbents. These routinely use materials that would go to landfill, making them an eco-friendly choice. The main benefits of closed-loop recycling are that high-quality materials remain in circulation and there is no need to extract valuable resources to make new products.

Ecospill is able to apply this process to the following materials:

    Cellulose

This is obtained from wipe manufacturers and recycled to create spill control products for general use, such as socks and pillows. We repurpose 12,000kg (12 metric tonnes) of cellulose every month to create our general maintenance absorbents.

    Polypropylene

Plastic-based material with phobic properties from wipe and nappy manufacturers can be transformed into a range of oil-only absorbents, such as booms, socks and pillows. We recycle 9,000kg (9 metric tonnes) of polypropylene with phobic properties each month. In addition, we repurpose polypropylene with philic properties from the same manufacturers. This substance is ideal for creating absorbents for chemical spills and we recycle 1,500kg (1.5 metric tonnes) every month.

    Woodfibre

Sawdust from sawmills can be used as a loose absorbent for oil- and aqueous-based liquid spills. We recycle 75,000kg (75 metric tonnes) of sawdust per month, making it our primary source of material for sustainable spill control products.

    What are the benefits?

Sustainability is opening many exciting doors and allows companies of all sizes to enjoy peace of mind, save money and improve efficiencies. With this in mind, closed-loop recycling is an excellent way of preventing waste material going to landfill without having to make wholesale changes to your business.

In addition, not only are our absorbents products sustainable, but you’ll be delighted to know that our materials are purchased from first-tier manufacturers committed to reducing their environmental impact. For example, all of our fibre material is sourced from FSC-approved manufacturers.

And while sustainability shouldn’t be a quick add-on for your business, it also shouldn’t require specialist planning and a large outlay. Our sustainable spill control products are designed to be highly effective and affordable, enabling you to easily replace your existing systems with an environmentally friendly spill management system.
